Avalanches are also known as a snowslip or snowslide, is a rapid movement of snow downslope. Avalanche mostly occurs during storms where snow packs are under the increase of load due large snow fall. Another largest cause of natural avalanche is the metamorphic changes on the snowpack like melting due to solar heat or solar radiation. Other natural causes include icefall, rock fall, earthquakes, and heavy rain.
Although avalanche is composed of flowing air and snow the large avalanches have the ability to entrain ice, trees, rocks, and other materials on the slope. Materials on the slope entrained by avalanches can trigger mud slide, rock slide, and serac collapses. Avalanche are endemic there are no random pattern when an avalanche will occur or happen. It can happen in any part of the world to any mountain where snow falls on it. Avalanches are among the hazardous natural disasters in the world. The destructive capability of avalanches can endanger life and property of any individual living near the mountainous terrain. The destructive capability of avalanche came from high speed fall down or enormous masses of snow.
There are no universal classifications of avalanches but different classifications of avalanche are useful for different purpose. Avalanches can be described according to their dynamics, composition, initiation mechanism, size, and destructive potential. Avalanches mostly happen in different countries in Europe, Canada, North America, and United States. Avalanche is a very dangerous natural disaster.
